The DIAGNOSE CTE Research Project is funded by a grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The grant is a Cooperative Agreement (U01), funded in response to the following request for applications (RFA): RFA-NS-14-012(released 7/29/14), “Detect, Define and Measure the Progression of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (U01),” http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-NS-14-012.html

As stated in the RFA, “The purpose of this initiative is to detect, characterize and measure the progression of neurodegeneration in individuals with a probable or possible diagnosis of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) using brain imaging and other biomarkers.”

After a competitive peer review process, this grant was funded in December 2015.
